FinTech Collective is a New York based venture capital fund, focused exclusively on financial services technology companies.
We invest initially in Seed and Series-A companies.
We are in the early stages of one of the largest sector-driven opportunities of our lifetime, the secular re-imagination of financial services.
Modern financial institutions were built to capitalize on being the intermediary, leveraging information advantage and providing access and scale. Post-GFC (global financial crisis), however, they suffer under the weight of enacted and pending regulation, legacy technology, customer trust, customer relevance, and an accelerating talent drain. They struggle for revenue growth and drive profitability primarily by cutting costs.
Today’s emerging challengers create an unfair advantage by operating fluidly in a networked and elastic world. They strip friction out of the system, removing the intermediary to connect market participants directly. They leverage virtualization, distributed resources, and a proliferation of web-connected devices to provide transparency, access, and personalized service through persistent connectivity.
Unlike what’s played out in the single epicenter of Silicon Valley over the past 20 years, “Fintech” will evolve as a globally distributed network of connected ecosystems with New York and London as the major centers, along with another dozen markets who will produce category-defining companies.
